Road Trip 2004 beta 0.1 - The Guinea Pigs.

TUESDAY

At the start of the trip, we already hit a snag. Car keys got locked in the car, fortunately, I was still near home, so a call to my parents fixed that.

First Pit stop, McDonalds at Jalan Pahang for some brunch before we actually head off to Kuantan.

We hit Kuantan and Jason puts up a question. What's the difference between Pahang people and KL people? We finally get the answer. They are more patient. Traffic lights in Kuantan take bloody hell long. The counter started at 114 (scary chinese meaning aside), I only managed to boot up my camera in time for this number (hehe). The we saw another light, with 143 seconds!! Oh my... cacat.

We had lunch at a restaurant called chili. The owner was so friendly, we decided to have a picture with her. She even put on some makeup first! Hahaha. We had Fried squid, Dried chili chicken, Kangkung with Belacan and Fried egg.

Our first paranormal activity. A paranormal bug.

Our campsite, and our firewood...

Jason and Ah Kit on the rocks. I have to wonder what sliced the rock in half.

Dinner at Kuantan town. The ikan bakar was interesting, with the three different chili sauces. Check out the bakar'ed tail.

A sand castle built by some strangers. Quite interesting too.

Unidentified object, and activity. What's going on here?!!?!??! (o.0)

Our fire lit and burning. It had rained earlier though, so the wood was wet and the fire didn't burn too well.

After nearly sizzling out, Ah Kit had to re-position the logs to get a decent fire going, but still it didn't last long.

First night activity, playing cards. It was dark, so we had to yell out our cards... "ACE OF SPADE! EAT THAT YOU USELESS BONG BONG!"

We went out and did some wayang kulit on the tent... hahaha. Makaliu scary shit. Especially when you're on the inside.

WEDNESDAY

Early in the morning, these two guys went peeing so I took a snapshot. After some image enhancement, I managed to get the pee to show up. Ah Kit is pumped up eh? -_^

After breaking camp, I castrated Mr. Ronald (now a missus?) with the machete....

Getting back to the car. Check out Joshua's pillow. How cute, and inappropriate for a camping trip. (this is at approximately 6:30am, hence the darknezz)

Joshua taking us for a fast ride... haha. (hope no one important sees this)

An important milestone number. "174", the CS legends... haha. Had the pleasure of playing with them, and damn they're good.

Stopping to switch drivers, I pose at this lonely bus stop. Middle of nowhere here.

Everyone's knocked out from the lack of sleep in Kuantan (camping sux), Except Joshua, who was snoring away (and now happily photographing us in these vulnerable moments). Also, notice the empty ferry. Not peak season I guess.

Having our breakfast on the ferry (Did I mention we left Kuantan at 7 am?) Tuna sandwiches for everyone!. Do I hear Hobbes?

We arrived at the Barbura Chalets in Tioman Island. Check out the ceiling fan, It's about as big as the wall clock! I remain undecided whether this is a paranormal activity.

The rooms at Barbura. I suspect this nasty cheapskate bed had bugs, cuz I got bites all over my back (I slept without my t-shirt on). Well, the beds were a good change from the floor of the tent.

Absolutely ghastly toilet in the Barbura chalets.

Playing at the beach. Minas Tirith under construction.

Our final completed Minas Tirith.

The sun was setting in a paranormal way, So I had to take (and upload) this shot. It was really beautiful, but some things just don't come up on camera.

We walked to Berjaya Tioman Resort to meet our "Contacts". While waiting, there was a brief paranormal blackout. Here's the expression of surprise.

Having made successful contact with our "Contact" we are all pleased and happy. We even get a ride back to Barbura... haha. Skip the 15 minute walk.

Dinner at Barbura. We had Sweet Sour squid, Tom Yam Soup (it was supposed to be Tom Yam fish, but the cook got confused) Hot plate tofu and Vege. It was a very windy and stormy night. Way cool.

THURSDAY

We bid good riddance to this evil place as we head off to our "upgraded" accommodations. Berjaya Tioman Resort, Here we come!

On the way out, I spotted a bush of paranormal Hibiscus. The flowers had 4 petals instead of 5. Hmmm...

We managed to get a ride to Berjaya on a staff bus. haha. The "misty effect" is due to the camera lenses fogging up after being brought out of the cold air-con.

Woo hoo!! Our new rooms at Tioman! For 200 bucks, We got this family suite (valued at around RM550 per night If i remember correctly) and free buffet dinner too! Thanks to our "contacts", the world just became a nicer place.

Check out the toilet. Two sinks, A bath tub, toilet bowl, and one extra toilet bowl-like thing to wash your arse... whatever it's called.. haha coolness.

We immediately head off for snorkeling after checking in (and a quick breakfast of maggi). Here we're getting our Gear for snorkeling.

Joshua pilots us part of the way. Haha.

One of the crew members getting a haircut at sea. haha. How cool. To clean up the chair, they just tossed it into the Sea.. lol.

Yeah! we hit the water!

Between snorkeling spots, We see this paranormal rock formation on the hill, that looks like to Japanese Kois swimming around.

Out in the sea. The black patches are where the corals are. Snorkeling is nice!

Yeah! Titanic pose on the ship. See the little red bumps on my back...? -_- Omigosh! What's that hook doing.... THERE? Uhm uhm... There's a good explanation for this...

Ahem. Just testing. That's all. This is during our lunch break while snorkeling. Okay, you can stop staring now.

Now he's got a handful eh? HAHAHAHAHA.

This psycho aggressive cat was staring at some guys fish while he was eating it! Attempts to shoo it away didn't work... Siau.

Our last destination on our snorkeling trip. (we had 6 destinations in total, taking about 7 hours). The guide took us for a swim around the whole tiny Island. It was cool, at one point, we had to swim against the incoming current, and that was difficult. Fortunately, I had my flippers on. We also saw a 1 meter shark swimming around, as well as some cuttlefish. Cool.

The fishes are nice and colourful.

The only Mermaid we saw... haha.

Our free buffet dinner... We felt like such VIP's there.

Nice big ship in the middle of the buffet table. It's really big. about 1.8 meters from bow to stern.

Trying my best to imitate a certain primate species. Climbing coconut trees is difficult.

Nice large Chess set.

I lost! haha. The camera somehow produced a nice black and white effect with the flash on.

Joshua trying some liquor (for free!!) The bartender seems to be having fits, or something... paranormal.

Supper, burgers at Epul's burger stall. Don't they look damn good? Check out the cheese... hahahaha. Tip of the day... Right click and select the entire picture... Gives a nice negative effect.

Mr. Epul himself Not only does he cook good burgers, he was our snorkeling guide. (one he does by day, and the other by night.)

Nasty bites. Couldn't get them on the picture clearly, So I circled them for your viewing pleasure. When I got back to KL, I counted exactly 50 bites.

The resort's swimming pool. Wish you were here yet? HAHAHA.

FRIDAY

One of our "contacts" (in the middle). Misty effect again, due to fogging of the lenses. Thanks for the great hospitality Berjaya Tioman!

Tioman Jetty, where we board our ferry back to the mainland. On Tuesday night we actually walked here to try and search for reception... haha.

The ferry ride back was freezing cold.

No, we didn't have any problems with the car. We just decided to push it for fun.

Serious. I'm not joking. There was no problems with the car.

Our version of Tak Nak... HAHAHAHAHA. We saw so many of these darned signboards, something just had to be done about it. "Bong no evil, Squeeze no evil, and Don't let evil in..."

We finally arrive at Mersing, Johor.

Lunch... Clay pot Tofu, Soup, Prawns and... yup. Squid again. At this stop (and restaurant) we observed a paranormal porker. When we arrived, he had this plate of rice with squid in it, a side dish of fish, and a side dish of prawns (as big as our plate up there). Finishing everything (washed down with a bottle of beer), He ordered another plate of fried noodles! Then, he ordered another plate of prawns! I mean... Oh wow!. On person? If he eats like this every meal, he must spend like.. 3k a month or something.

Before heading off, we have some Cendol. Mersing Cendol.

Halfway on the trunk road, there were some monkeys on the road. We stopped to watch them, and this curious and brave one came to check us out. Are we hot or what huh?

At Ayer Keroh toll, we spot this VIP... haha.

While waiting for our tour guide in Melaka (Sharlene) We decide to do more stupid stuff.

Another paranormal activity. UFO sighting? hahaha. Actually, some weird people were cycling around Melaka and releasing bunches of Helium Baloons... Is that paranormal or what? No adverts, nothing... Just baloons

The famous Melaka Satay Celup (Thanks Christina for pointing out the correct term =D)

HOORRR chien, with our tour guide Sharlene... One strange thing though... We observed that Melaka restaurants don't offer Iced Chinese Tea... how abnormal.

2 Fast 2 Furious!! On our way back to KL, and the end of our journey. When's the next one!!!
