There is an increased level of security
within a smart home. As there are sensors and detectors
installed in and around the house, any mishaps can be
detected immediately. If someone rings the doorbell, and
you're not sure who might be calling at your door, you
can actually use a simple, wireless camera which is
linked to the TV set to see who is outside. This can
prevent unwanted people from bothering you or entering
your home. Children can also make use of this technology
to see who's at the door before opening it. Therefore,
the safety of the children is ensured.
Let's say you are abroad and you would like
to check on your home. With a smart home, you can
actually do so just through the internet! Suppose that
one of your home PCs uses an always-on high-speed
connection and at the same time, powers your
home-control systems. This home-control software
functions as a web-server and you can access your home
network through any device that connects to the web.
Thus, you can control your appliances usage. You can
even make pretend that someone is at home by just
controlling the devices. On the other hand, if you do
not want to control the appliances, you can also program
your home to carry out different functions at different
times of the day. At the same time, you can activate
your home security system. In the case of any break-ins,
your home security system will set off an alarm, send
you a message on your phone and automatically dial the
police for you.
Apart from that, there are also various
other sensors that can increase the safety and security
level of your home. For instance, heat and smoke
detectors can detect a fire, weather sensors can help
detect the change in the weather and sets your home
ready for the weather change, gas detectors can detect
gas fumes and many others.
All in all, a smart home means an increased
level of safety and security for all members of the
family. |
